IBM Advanced Parallel Sysplex Operations and Recovery Workshop (ES90G)

Official IBM course

With this training, you'll learn advanced operator actions to implement new policies, coupling installations, structures and operational improvements related to the sysplex. It diagnoses problems and demonstrates recovery techniques in these areas. Numerous hands-on exercises enable participants to work their way through the steps required to implement ECS, GRS star, JES checkpoint, Operlog, Logrec and SM duplexing on the CF. Participants will also identify potential problems, and much more.

Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
Use the classic or tree-based HMC user interface, create HMC groups, load profiles
Provide advice and recommendations for HMC use
Initialize Sysplex system images and identify problems reported via system consoles and the HMC console
Identify sysplex components, define differences in resource and data sharing
Execute associated display commands to identify sysplex status, recovery actions, etc.
Manage data sets, format CDS, define policies
Implement configurations supporting GRS STAR, JES checkpoint and ECS using structures in CF
Identify torque data set failures, CF failures and CF structure failures
Identify pending policy change conditions and correct them if necessary
Remove a CF from the sysplex, as in the case of maintenance required on a CF
Identify and correct problems during the structural reconstruction process
Dynamically add a new System z CF to the sysplex
Execute recovery procedures with and without SFM policies
Define server time protocol implementation, terminology and support

Intended audience
Personnel d'exploitation, de support technique et programmeurs système qui sont impliqués dans l'exploitation, le support système et le support logiciel de leur environnement Parallel Sysplex.
