Acceleration of digitalization and robotization, health crisis, exceptional training financing schemes... Like all companies, VSEs/SMEs are experiencing an uncertain context in which developments are increasingly rapid. They must adapt to digital transformation and its impacts on management and businesses. The training of their employees is essential to meet this challenge. Update with Marie-Ruth Guillaume, VSE/SME referent at ORSYS.

For SMEs, training is essential if they are to adapt to digital transformation.

VSEs/SMEs represent the majority of companies. According to the latest data from INSEE, France had more than 4 million in 2019. Essential elements of the economic fabric, they must adapt to changes linked to digital transformation and new methods of organizing work. Their training needs are also evolving. In 2022, training in digital technologies will of course remain essential. However, other needs have emerged due to the health situation: remote management, teleworking, etc.

1/ What training courses are most requested by VSEs/SMEs?

For VSEs/SMEs, certain training is vitally necessary. In this category, we find, on the one hand, professional training linked to support functions. This includes everything that allows the company to “run”, that is to say: administration, accounting, finance, management and organization. And, on the other hand, training in digital technologies which remains essential.

In many VSEs/SMEs, employees generally train on the job and experience job changes within the same company. For example, during a promotion or the expansion of a team, they may need develop their managerial skills. In this case, they turn to training Becoming a manager which provides them with a solid foundation in management.

Furthermore, the health crisis has given rise to new skills development needs, and therefore new training needs, among VSEs/SMEs. I identify five of them.

“Teleworking and remote management: new concerns within VSEs/SMEs”

The first is teleworking. Some employees may therefore need support to learn new tools, new ways of organizing or managing. In this case, they can turn to training Managing your employees working remotely or in a hybrid organization.

The second is the remote management. In addition to basic managerial skills, employees then need to develop specific skills, such asfacilitation of remote meetings and mastery of videoconferencing tools such as Teams.

“Certifications are vital for ESNs. »

The third is certifications. They are essential for ESNs. On the one hand, towards their client companies because this highlights the skills of their employees. On the other hand, with regard to their own workforce, to attract new talents.

The fourth is time management. Already identified among VSEs/SMEs previously, this need has become even more accentuated in 2021. On this question, we can say that they are reaching maturity and taking the plunge into training more easily. Managing your time to be more efficient is one of the most requested training courses.

The fifth and last is assertiveness and assertiveness. With the health crisis, many employees have lost self-confidence and are questioning their professional priorities and their life goals. This leads them to change sector of activity, region… This is the phenomenon of the “great resignation” present both in France and abroad. It contributes to accentuating the labor shortage observed in recent years in certain sectors of activity or in certain types of positions. Offer employees training in the area of assertiveness, self-confidence and some stress management could limit its impact, including within VSEs/SMEs.

2/ Face-to-face or remote training: should VSEs/SMEs favor one format over another?

Today, 60 % training courses take place remotely, compared to 40 % face-to-face. VSEs/SMEs are increasingly opting for remote classes which save them time, health security and financial support.

Indeed, in terms of financing, remote classes can be, like face-to-face classes, supported by their OPCO. Furthermore, given the context, the FNE-Training system has been extended until 2023. This will allow VSEs/SMEs to access numerous training courses without affecting their cash flow. This is a real opportunity to be seized!

Concretely, companies must contact their OPCO to formulate their financing requests. They can also contact their training contact at ORSYS who will help them in this regard.

To meet the expectations of VSEs/SMEs, our range of remote virtual classes, blended learning and e-learning is constantly developing.

3/ How do ORSYS training courses meet the expectations of VSEs/SMEs?

First of all, the duration of ORSYS training allows employees to optimize their time spent in the company. On average, training lasts two to three days (apart from advanced IT training). This means that employees are quickly back in the company to put into practice what they learned in training.

“You don't build a business, you build people, then people build the business. »

Zig Ziglar, American writer and speaker.

What's more, employee training contributes greatly to the construction of the company both on a professional level and on a human level. More than ever, VSEs/SMEs need to build, or even rebuild, themselves. Employees are looking to save time in their daily professional lives. They particularly appreciate discovering tips for going faster. In other words, concrete methods and tools.

Still on a human level, training allows them to take a step back from their activity and break away from a certain isolation, especially in small structures. The training is then a stimulating and inspiring interlude thanks to an opening to other professions and other sectors of activity. It therefore promotes innovation.

Finally, saving time is also follow the right training. At ORSYS, VSEs/SMEs are in contact with specialized advisors: they help them find training that exactly matches their needs.
