Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
Describe how SMP/E is used as a system maintenance tool
Interpreting change control instructions in a SYSMOD example
Create a consolidated software inventory database
Use SMP/E dialog boxes to install a product and its associated service
Manage SYSMOD exception data
Describe the use of primary and secondary data sets required by SMP/E
Analyze SMP/E processing output and resolve frequently encountered problems
Describe the use of the REPORT command to determine software dependencies between zones
Use the BUILDMCS process to create a SYSMOD function from an installed product and its service
Use the new SMP/E functions to automatically install the software service via the Internet
Implement FTP client support for the communication server

Prerequisites
Completion of the following training courses or knowledge of: z/OS Systems Fundamentals (ES10) (ES10A) and z/OS Access Method Services and VSAM, (SS83) (H3840).
