Course schedule

1
Understanding the Benefits of AI for the Analysis, Forecasting, and Visualization of Banking Data

  • Identify the key concepts of artificial intelligence and generative AI
  • Identify relevant use cases in management accounting (analysis, reporting, forecasting)
  • Identifying Relevant Use Cases in Financial Analysis
  • Identify relevant use cases for budget or cash flow forecasting
  • Map current processes and identify opportunities for automation
  • Assess the benefits and limitations of AI tools (reliability, bias, data security)
  • Discover the main generative AI tools available
Hands-on work
Group workshop: Mapping participants’ management control processes and identifying tasks that can be automated (work in small groups). Guided case study: Analyzing a traditional reporting process and proposing improvements using AI (in pairs). Interactive demonstration: exploring and getting hands-on experience with automation options using Excel Copilot and Google Sheets to examine simple use cases (individual work with instructor assistance).

2
Prepare and organize data for use by AI

  • Structure financial data to make it usable (cleaning, standardization)
  • Use Excel's advanced features (Power Query, Office Scripting, pivot tables)
  • Organize data to facilitate automated analysis
  • Identify relevant internal and external data sources
  • Ensure data reliability to guarantee the quality of the analyses produced
Hands-on work
Individual exercise: Cleaning and transforming a financial data file using Power Query or Office Script. Pair workshop: Structuring a dataset to enable automated analysis of discrepancies. Practical exercise: detecting and correcting errors in a real dataset (guided work with group presentation).

3
Automate data processing and report generation

  • Automate the analysis of trends and variations in data (budget variances, cash flow gaps)
  • Use AI tools to identify trends and anomalies
  • Create dynamic dashboards with Power BI or Excel
  • Use AI tools to generate scripts for automating data processing
  • Automate the creation of recurring reports in Excel using Script Office
Hands-on work
Case Study: Variance Analysis on a Complete Dataset. Hands-On Workshop: Creating an Automated Dashboard in Excel Using Script Office or Power BI. Guided Exercise: Using an AI Tool to Detect Anomalies in Financial Data.

4
Generate Automated Financial Analyses Using AI

  • Conduct a meaningful financial analysis based on the data (analysis, explanation, recommendation)
  • Crafting Effective Prompts to Elicit Actionable Feedback
  • Use a generative AI tool to generate automated comments based on financial metric data
  • Customize and ensure the reliability of generated content
  • Integrating automated comments into an existing reporting system
  • Set up an automated AI agent for recurring analysis needs
Hands-on work
Individual workshop: Writing prompts to generate financial comments based on a dataset. Partner exercise: Comparing human comments with AI-generated comments (critical analysis). Simulation: Improving and validating automatically generated comments (guided work with feedback from the instructor).

5
Creating Financial Forecasts with the Help of AI

  • Identify appropriate forecasting methods (trends, regression, scenarios)
  • Use Excel's forecasting functions (FORECAST, trends)
  • Using AI Tools to Automate Financial Data Forecasting
  • Developing Scenarios and Analyzing Their Impact
  • Interpreting and Validating the Results of Forecasting Models
Hands-on work
Individual exercise: Creating a simple forecasting model in Excel using historical data. Small-group workshop: Developing scenarios (optimistic, realistic, pessimistic) and analyzing their impacts. Case study: Using an AI tool to generate a forecast and comparing it with a traditional model.
