Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
Setting up an Active Directory in Microsoft Azure
Perform routine administration tasks via interfaces and PowerShell
Deploy GPOs to administer workstations and servers
Securing Active Directory
Backing up and restoring Active Directory
Understanding Azure AD editions

Intended audience
Advanced technicians, system and network administrators and engineers.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure administration and Active Directory on Windows Server, or knowledge equivalent to that acquired in the course "Azure, implementation" (ref. AZM).

Architecture

  • Azure vocabulary in this ecosystem.
  • Manage subscription, support and billing.
  • Tools and SDKs: Visual Studio, Azure PowerShell, Azure SDK and Azure CLI.
  • Comparison of Windows Server Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • The different editions of Azure AD: Free, Basic and Premium.
Hands-on work
Implement Microsoft Entra ID in Azure.

  • Microsoft Entra ID management interfaces
  • Managing objects in PowerShell.
  • Managed service accounts and privileged access.
  • Authentication strategies.
  • SSPR password recovery
Hands-on work
Create and modify Azure Active Directory objects, service accounts and authentication policies.

Microsoft Entra Id Domain services

  • Operating principle.
  • Central warehouse and WMI filtering.
  • Inheritance, blocking and filtering.

Create a central store, GPO to secure stations and servers on Azure.

Maintenance and monitoring

  • Azure AD Connect tools.
  • AD to Microsoft Entra ID on Azure.

Synchronize a forest with Azure AD Connect. Synchronize Microsoft Entra ID with a local AD. Monitor AD and Microsoft Entra ID activity by generating reports.

The number of participants was a bit excessive and caused a few bottlenecks (trainees had to be helped out). 6 or 8 participants should not be exceeded, despite the incredible performance of the trainer!
