Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:

Formalizing a business process
Diagnosis and reconfiguration
Using UML throughout an IS project

Intended audience
Project managers, analysts, designers and anyone involved in IT projects using UML to model requirements and the expected solution.

Prerequisites
Experience in application analysis and design desirable.

Presentation and concepts

  • The current information systems context.
  • The role of the project owner.
  • Modeling methods, the role of UML.
  • Object-oriented concepts: class, Object, generalization, specialization, inheritance...
  • UML 2: presentation of developments.

UML and project stages

  • Needs analysis. UML models, role of the project manager.
  • Solution design. UML models, role of the project owner.
  • MOA's specifications for MOE.

Describing business processes

  • The communication diagram: role of objects, messages, transmission conditions...
  • Use cases. Scenarios. Relationships and constraints between cases.
  • Activity diagrams to describe activities and the organization of processes.
  • A variant: the interaction diagram.
  • Sequence diagrams to describe exchanges between actors in a process.
Hands-on work
Process description. Case study: describe the context in UML, the activities of a business process,

  • The class-entity diagram to model data.
  • Attribute, operation, association...
  • The state diagram.
Hands-on work
Create a data dictionary.

Diagnosis and reconfiguration

  • Diagnose the existing system.
  • Select reconfiguration axes.
  • Typical reconfigurations.
  • Analysis of data and process organization.

IT solution design

  • Defining the application context. The inter-application communication diagram.
  • Describe functions with use cases, sequence and communication diagrams.
  • Representation of existing and target architecture with component and deployment diagrams.
  • Relationship to database schemas.
Hands-on work
Outline definition of a target architecture.

UML and the project approach

  • Integrating UML into a project process. Reduce risks and organize the production of deliverables.
  • Presentation of the unified process (UP). Activities and phases.
  • The place of UML in a unified process.
  • Model-driven development.
  • Introduction to other project processes (XP, etc.).

Sujet globalement intéressant avec une bonne qualité d’animation, il faut savoir animer une formation sur 4j en distanciel. Il est cependant toujours compliqué de trouver le bon équilibre entre la théorie et la pratique, les exemples sont bien pour comprendre les notions mais pas toujours applicables au fonctionnement de l’entreprise derrière.

Reste à appliquer la formation, toutefois, les exercices pratiques permettent de s’approprier les notions. bonne balance entre la théorie et les exercices. comme on refait le même type d’exercice à plusieurs moment, on distingue mieux comment faire ensuite en autonomie.

Contenu clair et pertinent, illustré par de nombreux cas concrets. Pédagogie dynamique et interactive, avec beaucoup de pratique. Malgré la distance, le formateur a su maintenir l’attention et favoriser la participation de tous.
