Course schedule

1
The various data sources used by Data Module and their settings

  • Data sources for Data Modules: database servers, packages created in Framework Manager, downloaded files, datasets, and other Data Modules.
  • Creating the first Data Module.
  • Reloading data from a schema.
  • Link the data sources.
  • Package Enhancements.
  • Configuring data storage and caching.
  • Data Security.
  • An Introduction to Joined Tables.
  • Adding data sources and tables to a Data Module.
Hands-on work
Create your first Data Module. Create a report and a dashboard using data from a relational source and a data module.

2
Modeling with the Data Module

  • Modeling and Concepts.
  • Creating joins and defining cardinalities between tables or views.
  • Join Optimization.
  • Creating data groups.
  • Ideal modeling (star schema with column dependencies and lookup keys).
  • Creating custom tables (shortcuts, aliases, views, unions, intersections, exceptions, etc.) to resolve modeling issues.
  • The Dimensions of Time.
  • Defining column dependencies.
  • Organizing data into thematic folders, validating business terminology, and defining tooltips.
Hands-on work
Create a data module and implement properties (typing, joins, calculations).

3
Create simple or complex calculations and filters

  • Creating simple and complex calculated fields.
  • Arithmetic calculations involving dates and strings.
  • Creating data groups or defining "case" calculations.
  • Creating business filters.
  • Create navigation paths and test the Drill Down, Drill Up, and Navigate functions in a simple report.
  • Data formatting.
Hands-on work
Add calculated fields to a data module and test them in a report. Add filters to a data module and test them in a report.

4
In-memory processing with the dataset

  • Concepts.
  • Compatible data sources.
  • Data refresh.
  • The dataset's features.
  • Analysis of filtered metrics by date ranges relative to a given date.
Hands-on work
Create a report and a dashboard using data from heterogeneous sources (in-memory). Import and create a custom "Gregorian Calendar" to manage relative time periods. Create a Data Module to analyze data based on relative dates. Define Data Module sources, whether linked or unlinked. Define lookup references for event and metric dates. Add calculations or filters for relative dates linked to _as_of_date. Create a report and a dashboard.
