Set up flexible, robust and effective information systems
Choose tools (digital or hardware) adapted to the context
Ensure the quality of information and its relevance to needs

Intended audience
All public-sector employees who have to manage or circulate information, internally within departments or externally to public or private partners and users.

Practical details
Hands-on work
Plan various aspects of your department's information management. Seek out and process information with a view to disseminating it.
Teaching methods
Active teaching. Concepts are applied progressively. Participants are encouraged to reflect on and adapt to their specific contexts.

  • Understand the role of information in a professional context.
  • Take stock: existing situation, needs, objectives, difficulties, material and human resources.
  • Develop your monitoring and dissemination strategy: methods and tools, skills to develop.
  • Continuous self-assessment and improvement.
Hands-on work
Organize information management in your department: outline a suitable, well-sized system, define needs and uses, choose tools, consider practical arrangements.

  • Define your information gathering strategy: methods, tools, sources.
  • Plan and set up your watch.
  • Exploit the web and search results.
  • Use non-digital sources.
Hands-on work
Practice gathering information: search for information on the web. Evaluate the relevance and quality of results. Test different keywords. Deepen your watch policy.

Select relevant information according to objectives and needs

  • Choosing sources: suitability, reliability.
  • Evaluate the quality of data collected.
  • Optimize information gathering and dissemination according to context, needs and professional field.
  • Efficiently extract information from a written or spoken source.
  • Prioritize information according to recipients' expectations.
  • Know the law and ethics.
Hands-on work
Evaluate information: nature, reliability, relevance, completeness... Identify and prioritize ideas in a text.

Disseminating information

  • Choose the right distribution tools for the service.
  • Choose your communication channels: digital/physical, push/pull.
  • Aiming for efficiency: disseminating raw or reworked information?
  • Make information digestible and arouse interest.
  • Presenting information: editorial and graphic guidelines, web standards...
Hands-on work
Design an information medium (digital application, print, other...) in a way that is relevant to the department and its contacts.

  • Set up an information archive.
  • Adapt archiving to department needs.
  • Involve agents in the process.
  • Evaluate the system.
Hands-on work
Define which types of data to keep or eliminate. Plan an archiving method adapted to your context.
