Intended audience
This course is aimed at system administrators and architects who want to get to grips with the VMware vSphere 7 software suite (ESXi 7 and vCenter 7) quickly.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Windows and/or Linux administration.

1 Virtual infrastructure
- Server, network and storage virtualization concepts.
- The benefits of virtualization.
- Overview of VMware vSphere 7.
- vSphere 7 architecture.
- vSphere 7 components.
2 VMware vCenter 7 Server
- Platform Services Controller.
- vCenter 7 Appliance.
- License management.
- vSphere inventory management.
Hands-on work
Install and configure VMware vSphere virtual infrastructure components (ESXi, vCenter).
3 Network management: vNetwork Standard Switch
- Standard virtual switches.
- Advanced network configuration (security, traffic management, teaming management).
Hands-on work
Configure and manage the virtual network in vSphere.
4 vSphere storage management: vStorage
- Different storage protocols.
- Fibre Channel SAN storage.
- iSCSI SAN storage.
- NFS storage.
- Datastore creation and management.
Hands-on work
Configure, manage and optimize storage in VMware vSphere.
5 Virtual machine (VM) creation, deployment and administration
- VM components.
- New VM creation, cloning, snapshots, deletion and cold migration.
- Template creation and management.
- Virtual hardware management: Thin provisioning, VMDirectPath.
- Raw Device Mapping.
6 Infrastructure access security
- Configure and administer firewalls in ESXi.
- Use Lockdown Mode.
- Integrate ESXi with the Active Directory.
- Securing access: roles and permissions.
7 Monitoring and managing resource use
- Manage VM resources (shares, limits, reservations).
- Resource pools.
- Technologies for optimizing processor and memory utilization.
- Performance monitoring.
- Infrastructure monitoring with alarms.
8 High availability and service continuity
- VMware High Availability (HA) cluster management.
- VM fault tolerance with VMware Fault Tolerance.
- VMware vSphere Replication.
- Virtual infrastructure upgrade.
- Update management with VMware Update Manager.
Hands-on work
Manage the high availability of your virtual infrastructure. Implement VM fault tolerance with Fault Tolerance, VM replication with vSphere Replication and updates.

The experts leading the training are specialists in the covered subjects. They have been approved by our instructional teams for both their professional knowledge and their teaching ability, for each course they teach. They have at least five to ten years of experience in their field and hold (or have held) decision-making positions in companies.
ASSESSMENT TERMS
The trainer evaluates each participant’s academic progress throughout the training using multiple choice, scenarios, hands-on work and more.
Participants also complete a placement test before and after the course to measure the skills they’ve developed.
TERMS AND DEADLINES
Registration must be completed 24 hours before the start of the training.
