The project
Michelin has rolled out the Modern App for Managers "This tailor-made training course is designed to enable IT managers to understand modern development environmentsThis will enable them to work more smoothly with the technical teams.

The need
Three major needs motivated this project:
  • Reduce the gap between the rapid technological evolution of development teams and managers' ability to keep up with these changes.
  • Restore greater fluidity in communication and improve managerial support for technical teams.
  • Offer training that is compatible with managers' constraints, in a short period of time, directly in the environment, using Michelin's own tools and processes.

Why did you choose ORSYS?
ORSYS was chosen for its in-depth understanding of needs and its the ability to design an educational solution that is perfectly aligned with expectations. Its expertise across the entire application development chain, right through to production launch, was a decisive factor.

Project progress
The training course was developed in collaboration with ORSYS and took place over two days.

The first half-day was devoted to familiarising participants with the development profession, enabling managers to learn about the concepts, vocabulary and technical issues involved.

The rest of the course was based on guided, step-by-step practice, during which managers directly handled the tools used by developers on a daily basis: frameworks (Angular, Spring Boot), application development and deployment, Michelin's internal tools and cloud solutions.

This immersive approach enabled managers to better understand how their teams actually work and their working methods.
Results
After a year and a half of deployment, the training programme has been widely acclaimed.

It already covers a large part of the target population in France, the United States and India, with a target of 40% of managers trained by the end of 2025.

The sessions have received an average rating of over 18/20, confirming the impact and relevance of the programme.

Building on this success, Michelin has begun to extend the training to other groups, including functional teams and non-managerial employees who wish to acquire technical knowledge to improve their collaboration skills.
