This training course will give you the knowledge you need to carry out Forensics analyses on different mobile systems (iOS, Android).


Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
Learn to use the tools and methodology of telephone forensic investigation at a basic level
Analyze attacks on mobile systems.
Writing a forensic investigation report

Forensic analysis of a mobile system

  • Computer forensics.
  • Types of computer crime on mobile systems.
  • Role of the computer surveyor.

Modern cybercrime

  • Types of crime.
  • Security incident management framework, CERT.
  • Setting up labs: iOS investigation tools.
  • Analyze and understand attacks on mobile systems.
  • Protection tools, French legislation.
Hands-on work
Network analysis of DDOS attacks, infections and BotNet traffic.

  • Definition, role, types and filing rules.
  • Evaluate and secure the electronic elements of a crime scene.
  • Collect and preserve the integrity of evidence.
Hands-on work
Bit-by-bit duplication, integrity, file recovery and data analysis.

Mobile systems forensic basics.

  • Understand the architecture of mobile systems and SIM cards.
  • Mobile forensic techniques.
  • Mobile forensic processes.
Hands-on work
Analysis of mobile applications and malware. Forensic investigation with Santoku distribution.

Mobile systems data collection and analysis

  • Collection of volatile and non-volatile data.
  • How the identification system works.
  • Data analysis.
  • Cache analysis, cookie, browsing history, events.
  • Acquisition, analysis and response.
  • Start-up process.
Hands-on work
Collect and analyze RAM. Check file integrity. Explore browser and registry data.

The basics of forensic analysis of Android systems

  • Application analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Study of architectures: Kernel, Android Runtime, Libraries.
  • Study of system security.
  • Bypass locking techniques.
  • Obtain root rights.
Hands-on work
Investigation of a captured image of an Android system: Bypass encryptions, image data analysis.

The basics of forensic analysis of iOS systems

  • The hardware structure of Apple systems.
  • File system.
  • Architecture and security.
  • Collect data from an image and from an iCloud system.
  • Use of tools such as Elcomsoft iOS or Oxygen Forensic Detective.
Hands-on work
Implement an iOS image investigation.

Forensic investigation reports

  • Understand the importance of reports.
  • Copywriting methodologies and templates.

PREREQUISITES
A solid grounding in information systems security.

TRAINER QUALIFICATIONS
The experts leading the training are specialists in the covered subjects. They have been approved by our instructional teams for both their professional knowledge and their teaching ability, for each course they teach. They have at least five to ten years of experience in their field and hold (or have held) decision-making positions in companies.

ASSESSMENT TERMS
The trainer evaluates each participant’s academic progress throughout the training using multiple choice, scenarios, hands-on work and more.
Participants also complete a placement test before and after the course to measure the skills they’ve developed.

TEACHING AIDS AND TECHNICAL RESOURCES
• The main teaching aids and instructional methods used in the training are audiovisual aids, documentation and course material, hands-on application exercises and corrected exercises for practical training courses, case studies and coverage of real cases for training seminars.
• At the end of each course or seminar, ORSYS provides participants with a course evaluation questionnaire that is analysed by our instructional teams.
• A check-in sheet for each half-day of attendance is provided at the end of the training, along with a course completion certificate if the trainee attended the entire session.

Registration must be completed 24 hours before the start of the training.
