Participants will learn how to structure a robust end-to-end testing strategy, improve software quality, and integrate automated testing into a modern development process.

Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
Automate end-to-end testing with Playwright on modern web applications.
Design reliable test scenarios using robust selectors and appropriate assertions.
Design, maintain, and debug a suite of automated tests in a professional setting.
Leverage artificial intelligence to generate, correct, and optimize automated tests.

Intended audience
Software testers, web developers, QA engineers, DevOps professionals, and anyone interested in automating web tests and improving application quality.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of web development, particularly HTML and JavaScript. No prior experience with test automation is required.

  • Understand the principles of software testing and end-to-end testing.
  • Identify the differences between manual testing and automated testing.
  • Learn about Playwright's features and uses for web applications.
  • Set up and configure an automated testing environment.
  • Automate initial browser actions: navigation, clicks, and keystrokes.
Hands-on work
Automating a simple user flow in a web application.

2
Writing Reliable and Maintainable Web Tests

  • Use assertions to validate an application's expected behavior.
  • Understand the auto-wait mechanism to minimize unstable tests.
  • Implement robust selectors based on roles, text, and labels.
  • Automatically generate test scenarios with Playwright Codegen.
  • Leverage AI to create and improve automated test scripts.
Hands-on work

3
Structuring, maintaining, and debugging a test suite

  • Organize test files and test cases to make them easier to maintain.
  • Understanding test isolation and best practices for improving reliability.
  • Use debugging tools: logs, screenshots, and Trace Viewer.
  • Read, analyze, and improve an existing test scenario.
  • Correcting errors in automated tests with the help of AI.
Hands-on work
Correcting and improving the reliability of an existing suite of automated tests.

4
Standardizing testing and integrating automation into the development cycle

  • Simulate API calls using network mocking in Playwright.
  • Set up fixtures to abstract and reuse test scenarios.
  • Test complete user flows on different browsers.
  • Run automated cross-browser testing campaigns.
  • Integrate automated testing into a CI/CD pipeline.
Hands-on work

The teaching approach is excellent; everything is clear and accessible. The trainer is also very friendly; it’s easy to ask questions and get help if needed.

Overall, a good training course, with interesting and well-structured content. However, the course brings together functional and technical roles, with varying levels of knowledge. As a result, some basic concepts are revisited even though those in technical roles have already mastered them. It would be useful to offer separate sessions for functional and technical roles, so that the content can be tailored to each group’s level and needs.
