Administrators responsible for deploying virtual desktops within their organization.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Windows and Active Directory administration. Experience in virtualization with VMware vSphere products desirable.

1 Desktop virtualization according to VMware
- Components linked to a VMware View infrastructure.
- VMware View product licenses.
- Network and storage architecture for VMware View.
- VMware View: virtual machines, features.
2 Setting up the VMware View infrastructure
- Connection broker prerequisites and installation.
- View Connection Server configuration.
Hands-on work
Install and configure VMware View.
3 VMware View virtual desktops
- Configure and optimize virtual workstations.
- VMware View agent.
- Display protocols (RDP, PCoIP and Blast).
Hands-on work
Deploy virtualized workstations.
4 VMware View client components
- VMware View client, Thin client.
- VMware Blast: HTML access to workstations.
- Unity Touch: mobile access.
- Virtual Printing.
Hands-on work
Access virtual desktops.
5 VMware View Administrator
- View Administrator configuration.
- Session management and user access policy.
- Delegation of administration.
- Command-line administration, the vdmadmin utility.
- Kiosk Mode description.
- VMware View backup and restore.
- Secure remote connections, View Security Server, View Replica Server and Load Balancing.
Hands-on work
Manage and secure the park.
6 VMware View workstation pools
- Manual and automated workstation pools.
- Application virtualization: ThinApp, managing ThinApp applications with View Administrator.
- User profiles with View Persona Management.
- Create and manage RDS workstations.
- Deploy and provision RDS desktop and application pools.
Hands-on work
Manage user profiles. Use ThinApp to virtualize applications.
7 Instant and linked clones
- View Composer: features, installation.
- Linked Clones: concepts.
- Deploy workstations as linked clones.
- Management of linked clones: recompose, refresh, rebalance. Persistent disk management.
- Instant Clones: concepts and implementation.
Hands-on work
Implementation of Linked Clones and Instant Clones.
PARTICIPANTS
Administrators responsible for deploying virtual desktops within their organization.
PREREQUISITES
Basic knowledge of Windows and Active Directory administration. Experience in virtualization with VMware vSphere products desirable.
TRAINER QUALIFICATIONS
The experts leading the training are specialists in the covered subjects. They have been approved by our instructional teams for both their professional knowledge and their teaching ability, for each course they teach. They have at least five to ten years of experience in their field and hold (or have held) decision-making positions in companies.
ASSESSMENT TERMS
The trainer evaluates each participant’s academic progress throughout the training using multiple choice, scenarios, hands-on work and more.
Participants also complete a placement test before and after the course to measure the skills they’ve developed.
TERMS AND DEADLINES
Registration must be completed 24 hours before the start of the training.
