  • History of Lean Six Sigma®.
  • Definitions (6 Sigma scale, variability, etc.).
  • Ownership of the process.
  • The cost of poor quality (lost sales, lost credibility).
  • Profitability of a Lean Six Sigma® project.

Examples of the cost of poor quality.

Lean Six Sigma® principles

  • Areas of waste: overproduction, waiting, use of resources, storage, errors, transport.
  • Value Stream Analysis.
  • 5S principles (Seiri-débarrasser, Seiton-ranger, Seiso-nettoyer, Seiketsu-ordre, Shitsuke-rigueur).
  • Poka-Yoke methods, avoiding mistakes.
Group discussion
Using an example, identify defects at different stages of a process that could affect product quality.

DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma® phases

  • Define phase. Organization (resources, roles, milestones, etc.). Champion's project sheet, model and examples.
  • Measuring phase. Lean Six Sigma® indicators. Choose the variables to be taken into account when building them.
  • Analysis phase. Identify the causes of poor performance to improve processes. Analysis tools.
  • Improve phase. Choose solutions and define the organization to implement them.
  • Control phase. Document and develop the quality plan.
Case study
Use a case study to identify the causes of problems, measure and analyze them. Propose an objective and seek solutions.
