  • Understand BI tools and their benefits: ETL tools, databases, BI platforms.
  • Presentation of the architecture of a business intelligence information system.
  • New architectures linked to big data (data lake).
  • The three main levels of decision-making analysis: operational, analytical and strategic.
Hands-on work
Identify targets (strategic, tactical, operational) in relation to visualizations.

Overview of decision-making tools

  • The main BI suppliers: managers, experts, emerging players...
  • Proprietary solutions (MS SQL Server BI, SAP BO...) and open source solutions (Power BI, Qlik Sense, Tableau...).
  • Criteria to consider: source, volume, type of data, performance measurement, data visualization...
  • Comparison of the main BI solutions on the market: operational snapshots, limited exploration...
  • Big data tools (aata analytics, etc.).
Hands-on work
Using practical use cases (operational snapshots, limited exploration, data visualization, etc.), establish the strengths and weaknesses of the main players.

Main use cases and fields of application for decision-making tools

  • Operational snapshot reports. Dashboards.
  • Integrated applications (ERP).
  • The integration of spreadsheets as a decision-making analysis tool.
  • Ad hoc analysis (detection of relevant data for analysis).
  • Pivot tables and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP).
  • Advanced visual analyses (graphical representation, data discovery, etc.).
  • Autonomous business analyses (without IT intervention).
Hands-on work
Identify and explain use cases for your project or organization.

Choosing a decision-making tool: evaluation criteria

  • Basic features: data sources, data mining, security...
  • Functionalities specific to self-service use cases: selection, analysis, measurement...
  • BI-specific features: visualizations, In-Memory analysis, mobile version...
  • Other general criteria.

Based on your knowledge of your company, establish the essential, useful and secondary aspects to be taken into account.

Le fait d’avoir des stagiaires en présentiel et d’autres à distance est très compliqué à gérer pour le formateur.Ceux qui sont à distances (mon cas) ne peuvent pas échanger facilement.De mon point de vue, il faut évité de mixer, il aurait été préférable d’avoir tous les stagiaires à distance.
