Good knowledge of relational database management and SQL language. Basic knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects 4 as a user.

1 Introduction to Designer
- What's new in SAP BusinessObjects version 4.
- Notions of Designer and Universe.
- Universe development procedure.
- Implementation methodology.
Exercise
Discover the SAP BusinessObjects environment.
2 Basic operations
- Using Designer. Importing a universe.
- How it works. Opening a universe.
- Exporting a universe. Create a universe.
- Definition of universe parameters.
- Using Designer's user interface.
Exercise
Getting to grips with the Designer module's user interface. First steps in creating a universe. Define universe parameters.
3 Creating a schema with tables and joins
- Definition of a schematic.
- Insert tables, define derived tables.
- Definition of joins and cardinalities.
- Checking the universe.
Exercise
Define a schema. Working with tables, joins and cardinalities.
4 Solving join-related problems
- Problems related to joint paths.
- Alias definition. Object definition.
- Loop resolution.
Exam
Identify joint path problems. Implement corrective solutions.
5 Universe creation
- Introduction to universe creation.
- Simple operations on classes and objects.
- Simple conditions on classes and universes.
- Definition of classes, objects and hierarchies.
- Value lists.
Exercise
Create a universe in BO4. Create classes, objects, hierarchies and operations on classes.
6 Universe optimization
- Use of aggregated tables.
- Using @ functions.
- Use of analytical functions.
Exercise
Manipulate the elements covered in the chapter to optimize your world.
7 Universe management
- Universe deployment.
- Define access restrictions to a universe.
Exercise
Deploy your SAP BusinessObjects universe.

IT specialists and users responsible for designing SAP BusinessObjects universes.
PREREQUISITES
Good knowledge of relational database management and SQL language. Basic knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects 4 as a user.
TRAINER QUALIFICATIONS
The experts leading the training are specialists in the covered subjects. They have been approved by our instructional teams for both their professional knowledge and their teaching ability, for each course they teach. They have at least five to ten years of experience in their field and hold (or have held) decision-making positions in companies.
ASSESSMENT TERMS
The trainer evaluates each participant’s academic progress throughout the training using multiple choice, scenarios, hands-on work and more.
Participants also complete a placement test before and after the course to measure the skills they’ve developed.
TERMS AND DEADLINES
Registration must be completed 24 hours before the start of the training.
