Intended audience
This course is aimed at all web designers, webmasters and graphic artists wishing to acquire a good knowledge of web formatting.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of HTML.
Course schedule
1 Reminders
- Client/server architecture. Browsers.
- Client-side languages XML, (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- The Semantic Web. Accessibility. Encoding.
2 CSS basics
- The benefits of style sheets.
- The different versions of CSS (CSS1, CSS2, CSS3).
- CSS cascade. CSS sheet storage.
- Browser support.
- Selector types (id, class and tags).
- Priority order. Properties.
- Units of measurement (em, px, pt...).
- Colors (RGB versus basic).
Hands-on work
Style creation and management. Relative unit management. Adaptation to media types.
3 Boxes and blocks
- Block versus inline tags.
- CSS flow. Margins (margin, padding).
- In-flow positioning (relative, floating), out-of-flow positioning (absolute, fixed).
- z-index (altitude). The box-sizing property. Formatting contexts.
- Backgrounds and borders (colors, transparency, rounded corners, drop shadows).
- Content (scrolling).
- Special case of paintings.
Hands-on work
Creation of a page skeleton (positioning by div).
4 Text styles
- Font modification (sizes, fonts, colors, etc.).
- Text alignment.
- Pseudo-classes.
- Visual effects (flashing, etc.).
- Horizontal and vertical lists and menus.
Hands-on work
Horizontal/vertical menu formatting. Visual effects: transparency, drop shadows...
5 The images
- Content (img) versus appearance (background).
- Resize. Rollover.
- Links and images.
Hands-on work
Image integration.
6 The forms
- Design input fields, selection lists, text boxes, checkboxes...
- Formatting of labels, captions, fieldsets, etc.
Hands-on work
Forms production.
7 Modifying CSS in JavaScript
- Modifying styles in JavaScript (style and className interfaces).
- Effects: pop-up, click-and-drag, drop-down menu...
Hands-on work
Joint use of CSS and JavaScript (sliding menu, form effects, etc.).

Stéphane teaches very well, and the course runs smoothly and progressively. If you already have a basic knowledge of CSS, it may be preferable to take a more advanced course, although this will also help you consolidate the fundamentals.

They have at least five to ten years of experience in their field and hold (or have held) decision-making positions in companies.
ASSESSMENT TERMS
The trainer evaluates each participant’s academic progress throughout the training using multiple choice, scenarios, hands-on work and more.
Participants also complete a placement test before and after the course to measure the skills they’ve developed.
TERMS AND DEADLINES
Registration must be completed 24 hours before the start of the training.
