Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
Be able to edit a video from A to Z with Da Vinci Resolve
Understand the entire video post-production process, all the steps involved
Tackle different editing styles for different subjects (reportage, corporate, documentary, clip...)
Picture editing, sound editing, transitions, effects, rhythm, export in the right format
Colorimetry, color grading: shot correction, style and cinematographic character
Discover special effects with the Fusion module

Intended audience
Multimedia project managers, webmasters, journalists, video technicians, communications managers, anyone handling video files or editing videos.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of digital creation (digital photography or consumer video editing).

Practical details
Exercise
Airing: at the end of the course, each participant presents his or her film. Group analysis and constructive criticism for further improvement.
Teaching methods
A little theory and a lot of practice and exercises. Produce a corporate film, news report, music video... from A to Z using DaVinci Resolve professional software.

Shooting

  • Filming techniques: camera placement, sound recording, directing the action.
  • Interviews, cutaways, camera movements.
  • Direct the action and the actors, avoid shooting errors.
Exercise
Crew, director, cameraman... Everyone has a job.

Video production

  • Video workflow: pre-production/production/post-production.
  • Camera structure and settings, good lighting, sound recording, team and equipment.
  • Overview of the various software packages available, with particular emphasis on DaVinci Resolve. Comparison with the Adobe suite.
  • Watch some interesting video examples.

A little theory to help you understand the video production process.

Post-production: discover DaVinci Resolve

  • Installation and configuration of DaVinci Resolve software.
  • Presentation of the different modules (Media, Edit, Color, Fusion, Deliver), interaction between modules.
  • Import and organize rushes: filmed images, music, voice-overs, logos, photos...
  • Initial editing: creation of the bear.
  • Fine-tune editing: sound synchronization, transitions, effects, simple color correction, simple titling.
  • Start and end credits added.
  • Export editing: choice of format and codec for the Web, social networks, YouTube, Facebook, intranet...
Exercise
Production of an initial montage.

Post-production: action and antenna!

  • Adding special effects, trimming the green screen, more complex sound editing, speed variations...
  • Fine-tune effects and keyframes with curves.
  • Clip editing "clip": adjust images to musical tempo.
  • Subtitling for silent or multilingual versions.
  • Uploading to YouTube (creation of a YouTube channel).
Exercise
Take the software a step further: make your own film, put it on the air at the end of the course and receive constructive criticism.
