Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Illustrator software or knowledge equivalent to that acquired in the course "Illustrator, getting started".
Course schedule
1 Consolidate basic concepts
- Characteristics of a vector image.
- Software operating principles.
- Outline and shape.
- Specific enhancements: shapes, shades, symbols, graphic styles...
- Text management: point text and captive text.
Hands-on work
Create a simple composition using Illustrator's basic tools. Include shapes, text and graphics.
2 Advanced enrichment and modification
- How to use the aspect palette and effects/filters controls.
- Techniques for selecting or isolating a plot portion.
- Design of artistic forms, calligraphy and elaborate motifs.
- Volume and perspective of object shapes.
- Customized bleeds and cut lines. Vector masks.
- Transparent paths. Pathfinder tool. Effects. Enhanced Pencil tool. Junction tool.
- Perspective grid.
- Create, extrude and revolutionize 3D objects. Create lights and apply textures.
Hands-on work
Design a complex pattern by combining advanced selection techniques with the application of effects and filters.
3 Gradients and images
- Create and modify color gradients.
- Create a gradient net and apply colors.
- Add/delete meshes.
- Import linked and embedded images.
- Convert an image into a drawing (vectorize).
Hands-on work
Create a logo or illustration using color gradients to give depth and volume.
4 Repeating patterns and random symbols
- Create and modify a pattern.
- Use an image as a motif.
- Apply the pattern to a shape.
- Use an image as a symbol.
- Apply symbols to the page.
- Transforming symbols.
Hands-on work
Design a brochure or poster using repetitive patterns to create a visually interesting background.
5 The clipping mask and layers
- Crop a drawing with one or more shapes.
- Modify a clipping mask.
- Create layers and sublayers.
- Draw on a layer.
- Hide or lock layer contents.
- Crop a drawing containing layers.
Hands-on work
Create a poster with graphic elements using clipping masks to achieve interesting visual effects.
6 Envelopes and puppets
- Create an envelope.
- Apply the envelope to a drawing.
- Deforming the envelope.
- Convert a drawing into a puppet.
- Secure with pins.
- Deforming the puppet.
Hands-on work
Apply an envelope to text or an object to creatively distort and modify its shape.
7 3D effects
- Apply 3D depth to a shape (extrusion).
- Create a circular shape in 3D (revolution).
- Apply perspective (rotation).
- Apply materials or symbols to a 3D shape.
Hands-on work
Create a 3D object and apply lighting and texture effects to give it a realistic appearance.
8 Save document
- Save as vector for printing (.ai, .pdf, .eps).
- Export as an image for printing (.tif, .psd).
- Export as a web image (.jpg, .gif, .png).
Hands-on work
Export an illustration in various formats suitable for print and web, taking into account resolution settings.
Options
Certification : 80 € HT
TOSA® certification certifies the learner's skills on a 1,000-point scale for a period of 3 years. The TOSA® diploma is issued if the learner's score exceeds 551 points. Once the exam has been taken, the learner can consult his or her results online, and receives an e-mail with a certificate, a detailed summary of his or her skills, and the diploma within 5 days. The exam lasts 1 H 00 and consists of 35 exercises alternating between manipulations on the software and multiple-choice questions, the difficulty of which varies according to the learner's answers. Unless specifically requested, the course is given by default in French and on the most recent software version. Monitoring is carried out by software and recorded for compliance control purposes.

Cette formation a été très enrichissante. J’ai pu acquérir de nouvelles compétences ainsi que gagner en assurance dans l’utilisation d’Illustrator. Les contenus étaient clairs, bien structurés et les exercices bien pensés pour visualiser beaucoup d’outils et de techniques ! La formatrice a été super : pédagogue, disponible et très à l’écoute.

The experts leading the training are specialists in the covered subjects. They have been approved by our instructional teams for both their professional knowledge and their teaching ability, for each course they teach. They have at least five to ten years of experience in their field and hold (or have held) decision-making positions in companies.
ASSESSMENT TERMS
The trainer evaluates each participant’s academic progress throughout the training using multiple choice, scenarios, hands-on work and more.
Participants also complete a placement test before and after the course to measure the skills they’ve developed.
TERMS AND DEADLINES
Registration must be completed 24 hours before the start of the training.
