1 Presentation
- Report interests.
- Report generation issues.
- State of the art, open source solutions.
- JaperSoft offer: JasperReports Library, Jaspersoft Studio, JasperReports Server...
- XML basics.
- The usefulness of XML for the JasperReports solution.
2 JasperReports, getting started
- Prerequisites and installation procedure.
- Tools overview: JasperSoft Studio at a glance.
- Supported data sources.
- Declaration of data sources.
- SQL queries, sorting and filters.
- Analysis of sample reports.
- State generation process.
- Compilation.
Hands-on work
JasperReports installation and demonstrations. Configuration of a data source from a database.
3 Report design
- Report structure: sections, bands, columns...
- Fields in a report: declaration, types, rules.
- The different elements: text, image, graphic forms.
- Parameters, expressions and variables
- Report formatting.
- Report formatting.
- Styles and templates.
Hands-on work
Design a simple report from a data source.
4 Advanced design elements
- Groups: principle, nesting, page breaks...
- Sub-reports: principle, sizing, referencing...
- Graphs and pivot tables: datasets, dataset run.

Advanced report design with crosstabs and sub-reports.
5 Publication of reports
- JasperServer installation procedure.
- Web and database server configuration.
- Publish reports from JasperReports Server.
- Connecting to JasperReports Server from JasperSoft Studio
- Publish reports with JasperSoft Studio.
PARTICIPANTS
Consultants, project managers and analysts wishing to implement an open source reporting solution.
PREREQUISITES
Knowledge of relational databases, SQL and XML technologies.
TRAINER QUALIFICATIONS
The experts leading the training are specialists in the covered subjects. They have been approved by our instructional teams for both their professional knowledge and their teaching ability, for each course they teach. They have at least five to ten years of experience in their field and hold (or have held) decision-making positions in companies.
ASSESSMENT TERMS
The trainer evaluates each participant’s academic progress throughout the training using multiple choice, scenarios, hands-on work and more.
Participants also complete a placement test before and after the course to measure the skills they’ve developed.
TERMS AND DEADLINES
Registration must be completed 24 hours before the start of the training.
