Exercise
Case studies from the simplest to the most elaborate: getting to grips with CBN calculations. Simulation of a supply chain using the "beer game".

The basics of production management

  • Recognize customer and supplier objectives.
  • Distinguish between the 5 production typologies.
  • Understand the roles and functions of the industrial company.
  • Understand the ERP panorama and typical modules.
  • Understand the basics of MRP: PIC/PDP/CBN, monitoring.
Hands-on work
Discussions on current customer requirements in terms of supply chain and lead times. Introductory calculations on MRP mechanisms.

MRP basics - Requirements calculation

  • Understand the successive levels of calculation and their characteristics.
  • Master the detailed mechanisms for calculating MRP/CBN quantities.
  • Monitor the progress of production and orders.
  • Identify the impact of some important MRP tuning parameters.
  • Understand the theory and practice of MRP loops.
Hands-on work
Creation of PDP and CBN calculation tables. Analysis of the impact of supply chain contingencies on CBN.

Workshop scheduling and launch

  • Understand the roles of launching and scheduling.
  • Know the different scheduling criteria, their relevance and limits.
  • Manage priorities, to limit work-in-progress and be more reactive.
Hands-on work
Feedback on prioritization. Application of relevant rules.

Procurement and inventory management with MRP

  • Understand classic supply methods.
  • Master the content and application of procurement plans.
  • Visualize the compromise established by the economic order quantity formula.
  • Master the elements of safety stock dimensioning.
  • Manage inventory rigorously to enable reliable calculation of requirements.
Hands-on work
Calculation of economic quantity and control of influencing parameters.

New modes of collaboration in the extended enterprise

  • Understand new modes of customer-supplier collaboration.
  • Choose the most appropriate flow management method.
  • Reconcile pull and push flows via a production management model.
Exercise
Beer game. Game and debriefing with concrete illustrations of how to implement the principles involved.
