Photoshop is a computer-assisted editing, processing and drawing program. You'll be introduced to Photoshop's main functions, enabling you to create and retouch digital images. You'll see how to prepare your graphic components and export them for a Web environment.


Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
Master Photoshop's interface and basic tools
Acquire advanced skills in image retouching and graphic design
Efficiently manage layers and typography to create visually impactful compositions
Create graphic elements such as vector shapes and artistic drawings
Prepare images for printing and export them in various formats for online use

Intended audience
Graphic designers, layout artists, illustrators, photographers, etc. Assistants and secretaries who need to retouch images or create realistic photomontages.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the Windows environment.

Course schedule

1
Introduction to Photoshop

  • Navigate the interface.
  • Locate palettes and tools on screen.
  • Understand the concept of bitmap images.
  • Master the use of pixels, resolution and definition.
  • RGB and CMYK modes
Hands-on work
Locate palettes and tools. Modify image size, experiment with RGB and CMYK color modes, and understand their impact on display.

Image analysis

  • Check the image's colorimetric mode.
  • Check image dimensions and weight.
  • Check image resolution (quality).
Hands-on work
Take an image and use Photoshop to check and adjust its color mode, dimensions and weight. Also check image resolution.

Managing tools

  • Draw freely on the image (Brush and Pencil tools).
  • Merging modes.
  • Erase part of the image (Eraser tool).
  • Select delimited objects or shapes (Object Selection tool).
  • Select areas of varying colors (Quick Selection tool).
  • Select a uniform color (Magic Wand tool).
  • Select by line segments (Polygonal Lasso tool).
  • Touch up the resulting selection.
  • Invert selected/unselected zones.
  • Generalize color selection.
  • Save a selection (layer).
Hands-on work
Take an image and practice using the Brush, Pencil, Eraser, Object Selection, Quick Selection, Magic Wand, Polygonal Lasso tools and blending modes.

Apply color

  • Apply with selection + fill layer.
  • Modify the layer's blend mask.
  • Apply the FX button with a + layer.
Hands-on work
Select a part of the image and apply color by creating a fill layer. Modify the blend mask to adjust the color application.

Modify image properties

  • Crop part of the image.
  • Modify image dimensions.
  • Modify image resolution.
Hands-on work
Take an image and practice cropping, changing dimensions and resolution.

Simple retouching and blend masks

  • Modify contrast, brightness and colors.
  • Remove imperfections.
  • Generate matter.
  • Completely hide part of a layer.
  • Hiding a gradient layer.
Hands-on work
Take an image and use Photoshop to adjust contrast, brightness and color, remove imperfections and generate texture.

Editing layers

  • Create a photomontage.
  • Move, duplicate a layer.
  • Convert a selection to a layer.
  • Transform a layer (homothety, rotation, etc.).
  • Modify layer overlays.
  • Transparency modes and effects.
  • Layer styles.
  • Create a blank layer, a text layer and a shape layer.
  • Save a document containing layers.
Hands-on work
Create a photomontage using different layers. Move, duplicate and transform layers. Experiment with blending modes, transparency effects and layer styles.

Save an image

  • Save for printer (.tif, .psd).
  • Save for printing (.tif, .psd).
  • Save for web (.jpg, .gif, .png).
Hands-on work
Take an image and explore the different recording options for printing on a printer, printing in a print shop and for the web.


Options
Certification : 80 € HT
TOSA® certification certifies the learner's skills on a 1,000-point scale for a period of 3 years. The TOSA® diploma is issued if the learner's score exceeds 551 points. Once the exam has been taken, the learner can consult his or her results on-line, and receives an e-mail with a certificate, a detailed description of his or her skills, and the diploma within 5 days. The exam lasts 1 H 00 and consists of 35 exercises alternating between manipulations on the software and multiple-choice questions, the difficulty of which varies according to the learner's answers. Unless specifically requested, the course is given by default in French and on the most recent software version. Monitoring is carried out by software and recorded for compliance control purposes.
