Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
Know how to migrate CAD models

Intended audience
Anyone involved in the development of industrial products, including draughtsmen, project designers, technicians, engineers and employees of design or methods departments.

Prerequisites
Good knowledge of CATIA V5 and basic GSD functionalities.

CAD model migration

  • A reminder of how to parameterize curves and surfaces.
  • Modifications des options de tolérances.

Hands-on work

  • Locate and measure discontinuities at a point.
  • Locate and measure tangent discontinuities.

Handling analysis tools. Work on discontinuities.

Organizing the specification tree

  • Reminder of tree function scheduling in surface mode.
  • Prepare a typical tree.
  • Part modeling methodology.
Hands-on work
Create and organize geometric sets and groups. Model a part.

Advanced modeling: processing surface models

  • Break down the model's various surfaces.
  • Restore an original surface.
  • Extraction of surfaces and curves.

Formatting and combining views.

Curves

  • Curve creation tools.
  • Curve smoothing.
Hands-on work
Handle 2D spline, 3D curve, parallel curve, intersection curve and spine tools to create curves. Smooth curves by removing discontinuities.

Surfaces

  • Surface creation tools.
  • Surface corrections.
Hands-on work
Handle surface tools by scanning, oriented surfaces, multi-section surfaces, fill surfaces to create surfaces, then smooth, fill, cut.

Operations on curves and surfaces

  • Surface junction, extrapolation, offset.
  • Recommendations.
  • Tree cleaning.
Hands-on work
Resume the previous TP for modification with operations on curves and surfaces.

Surface replacement

  • Surface replacement.
  • Replacement of a complete zone.

Modification of a part to replace a surface.
